Stanford Finishes As National Runner-Up

Although coming agonizingly close, the Stanford men's gymnastics team will have to settle for the national runner-up position after being overtaken by Michigan in the final rotation. Stanford led for six rotations, but the Wolverines came through on its final apparatus, the vault, to defeat the Cardinal by 0.7 points. Michigan finished with 360.5 points, while Stanford had 359.8.

A night after finishing agonizingly close to the NCAA team title, the Cardinal were back in action for the event finals. Whatever disappointment from Friday night that may have existed, did not carry over into the routines as every Stanford athlete to compete was named All-American. In addition, Ryan Lieberman and Eddie Penev won individual national titles.

CEDAR CITY, Utah - April 21 - Southern Utah's Elise Wheeler will be making her third consecutive trip to the NCAA National Gymnastics Championships as an all-around competitor by way of her finish in the all-around in the Morgantown regional. The meet is scheduled to take place this weekend as Wheeler will rotate with the University of Arkansas, beginning on Thursday night.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - April 22 - Elise Wheeler's bid to capture more All-American accolades and NCAA hardware came to an end of Thursday night as the senior finishes 12th in the all-around in the second session of the NCAA National Championships. Wheeler finished the night with a 39.150 in the all-around, finishing ahead of all-arounders from Missouri, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina State, Minnesota, Michigan, Denver and Stanford.


Nine Gymnasts Named Academic All-WAC

CEDAR CITY, Utah - June 2 - Southern Utah University gymnastics was honored with academic accolades as nine gymnasts were named Academic All-WAC, having at least a 3.00 grade point average while participating in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.


Redhawks Gymnasts Finish 2010 Season at NCAA Regional

The Redhawks officially finished the 2010 season at the NCAA South Central Regional this evening. Competing for Southeast was freshman Jordan Salsberg (Gulfport, Miss./Laniers Gymnastics) and junior Brianna Gaddie (East Grand Forks, Minn./Red River Valley Gymnastics). The gymnasts were unable to qualify for the NCAA National Championship, but fought hard against some of the best gymnasts in the country.
